Flat Dies

Dieflow uses full 3-D flow analyses to design extrusion dies. Traditionally, dies have been designed using 1-D or 2-D analyses which assume the lubrication approximation in part of the die while applying hydraulic radii and "shape factors" in other regions of the die. Inertia is usually neglected in all regions of the die.

Dieflow solves full 3-D non-Newtonian viscus flow equations everywhere in the die. Inertia effects are included. The equations are solved with finite element method using quadratic elements to obtain extremely accurate results. Such accuracy is not possible with simpler 1-D or 2-D models.
